Refurbishment of house exterior including a new roof, new dormer window, gutters, downspouts and painting of facade

This beautiful Oakland house was in need of a face lift. We started with the roof, which already had three layers of shingles on it. The shakes were also in total disrepair so the tear off was arduous and took a full week. in addition, a lot of the flashing had been repaired simply by gunking over it with bitumen and needed to be removed carefully so as not to damage the stucco.

The new dormer was erected on the South side of the house as a timber frame construction during the tear off period and was sheathed at the same time as the roof was sheathed with 1/2" OSB.

The roof was mainly covered in tile, though there were two parts that were torch down, over the front dormer and over the bath at the rear of the house.

The gutters were removed and the house painted using Benjamin Moore Top of the Line paints after prepping the window frames and other surfaces.

After the paint job, the new gutters were installed.

The entire project was carried out in several steps and over a longer period of time, where the first phase was the renovation of the roof and the second phase, the painting and the gutters.
